1. Configure Netscape Messenger Client

A. Go Online with your ISP

B. Open the Netscape Messenger Client

C. Select Edit/Preferences on the Top Menu Bar

D. Select 'Identity' in the Category bar and then type in:

Your full name

bullet

The full email address of the mailbox you want to check

bullet

Repeat the same email address in the reply-to field

See example below and replace yourdomain.com with your domain name and replace user with the name of the user's mailbox you want to check.

E. Select 'Mail Servers' in the Category bar and then type in:

For the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server, we recommend that you use your ISP's SMTP Server since this configuration works best.  Most ISP's offer an SMTP Server free with their dial-up service and all you need to do is call them to find out what that SMTP Server name is.

If your ISP does not offer an SMTP Server (like AOL), then you can use your domain name as the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server.  But, when using your domain name as the SMTP server, you must always check for mail before being allowed to send mail (POP before SMTP).

Then hit the 'Add' button in the Incoming Mail Servers section

F. In the Mail Server Properties dialog box, type in:

Your domain name in the 'Server Name' field

Select POP3 Server in the 'Server Type' drop down

The username of the mailbox you want to check mail for.

Check the box next to 'Remember password'.

For example, if you wanted to check mail for username@yourdomain.com, you would put in the information as illustrated below.

G. Then hit the OK button to exit the Mail Server Properties dialog.

H. Then hit the OK button to exit the Preferences dialog box.

2. Receiving E-Mail

A. Select File/Get New Messages

B. Type in the password to access the mailbox being prompted for.
