How do I stream my Real Audio, Video, Movie files?

a) Upload, via FTP, the real audio, video, or movie files (.ra, .rv, .rm) into your site.

1. To do this, FTP into your site following the normal FTP instructions provided here.

2. Once you are connected, click on the "Change Directory" or "ChgDir" button or menu option so that a dialog box appears and you can manually type in a directory path to change to.

3. Then, type in:

/ra-<username>/

Where <username> is replaced with your site user name.  This will place you in a "virtual" FTP directory where you can upload your Real Audio and Real Video files.

4. Upload the Real Audio or Real Video files into this directory.

NOTE: These files must be encoded using the Real Encoder 5.1 product on your PC.  If you are using a Real Encoder G2, your files will not run on our servers since we do not yet offer Real Server G2.  You can find out information on how to purchase the Real Encoder 5.1 product here.

b) Create a link in your web page with the following format:

pnm://real.spring.com/<username>/<real audio file>

Where <username> is replaced with your site user name and <real audio file> is replaced with the name of your Real Audio or Real Video file that you uploaded to your site.

How do I use live Real Audio/Video?

a) Create a .ram file using a simple text editor (like Notepad) and FTP upload it into your  /ra-<username> directory for each real audio, real movie, or real video file you want to have on your site.
Do not create the .ram file using a word processor!

  pnm://real.spring.com:7070/<username>/live.ra

Where <username> is replaced with your site user name and <real audio file> is replaced with the name of your Real Audio or Real Video file that you uploaded to your site.

b) Stream your live audio/video with the following settings:

Host:  real.spring.com
Password: live2real
Resource: <username>/live.ra (or .rm)
Port: 7070

c) Upload via FTP in the way specified in part a) of the section "How do I stream my Real Audio, Video, Movie files?"
